(In parts due to size)
I started off by drawing a simple character. Stanley is a character I have had for a very long time and I essentially use his design for any praticing. I think this project and the last one really fleshed out his personality. I chose to add clothing because it made sense with his very human frame. I wasn't sure if this project had to be a continuous story or not so I chose the latter. But if it needs one I blame wormholes/the multiverse theory.
I introduced this project to my friends on facebook and portrayed it as a game. I told them Stanley needed help completing his adventure and asked them "What should he do next?". I said he could do anything but change shape or die. Below are their names and relationship next to what they said and how I interpreted it into a panel.
1. Me: Standing figure.
2. Boyfriend Alex: "Eating an ice cream cone" - Pretty straight forward. Medium shot holding an ice cream cone and scooper. Didn't really put too much thought into scenery. Simple objects and counter.
3. Friend Chase: "Fight a Rathalos" - A rathalos is basically a dragon-type monster from the game Monster Hunter. I used a mixture of references to render the monster the way I wanted. I knew it was giant, so I shrunk stanley to make sure the rathalos was seen as a threat.
4. Friend Jaime: "Shave a cat" - I wanted the cat to appear to be jumping out of the frame and Stanley to have an unemotional expression.
5. Friend Charles: "Hitler and Stanley light saber battle on sea monsters" - I wanted to make this as close up as possible but I realized I had to zoom out a little to see part of the sea monsters they are riding.
6. Friend Amrit: "Opening a jar" - I wanted the scene to be as stressful looking as possible, so I added squiggly lines and and outward-looking wide eyes.
7. Friend Nolan: "Doing some sick parkour" - I honestly couldn't invision parkour besides basic freerunning so I tried for a long jump focused closely on Stanley. I added the clouds and a sketchy city skyline to show the height. The angle was rather difficult and I think it is a little awkward looking.
8. Friend Caitlin: "Eat cake" - Basic medium shot. I think I should've zoomed in more, but I just wanted it to seem like a content action.
9. Friend Carrie: "Tripped over a chair and fell through a wormhole" - I centered the main point of action, the wormhole.
10. Caitlin's Boyfriend: "Break dance" - I know little about breakdancing so I just drew the only move I know of. I wanted it to extend out of the panel to enforce the motion in his legs.
11. Friend Anthony: "Eating lunch with a carnivorous beaver" - Focused on the beaver with just a back head shot of Stanley. Because I needed them both in the shot with a table I didn't zoom in that much.
12. Friend Orin: "Forced to type in Comic Sans" - I wanted Stanley to look like he was being forced away into doing what he was chosen to do. If he had been too close I feel it wouldn't be as effective. On the other hand, too far away and you wouldn't be able to read the computer.
13. Caitlin's Dad: "Fight a Yeti" - Wanted to zoom in as much as possible and show their wrestling-type fight.
14. Friend Hannah: "Skydiving" - Close up of Stanley with helecopter farther away to show falling.
15. Alex's Coworker: "Making a self-portrait" - Set in a way that I felt looked calm as if drawing is a relaxing hobby for Stanley.
16: Other friend Hannah: "Goes on a date" - I probably should have zoomed a little more but was overall pleased with how much was shown.
